Reflecting on the Journey: The Finale of Party Panic's Development... or IS it?
Hey Party Panic! fans,
Chris here!
Graduation week is here! School is over! Well, almost. We're submitting this project tonight, and from an academic standpoint, we're done!
So what happens now to Party Panic!? Will it be shelved, left to gather digital dust in a forgotten corner of a hard drive? Maybe. But not necessarily. We're not quite sure what life has in store for us over the coming months. As much as we'd love to release and distribute Party Panic! to the masses, we have to be realistic. There's still a significant amount of work to do before we would feel comfortable asking players to part with their hard-earned money to play our game.
Despite the unknown future of Party Panic!, one thing is for sure - this project has not been a waste. Not in the slightest. It has been an incredible learning experience, the best game EVER to teach us about working as a team, navigating the challenges of game development, and creating something amazing. The skills, knowledge, and experiences that we've gained from this project are priceless. They form the foundation upon which we'll build our careers in game development.
From learning how to work with Unreal Engine's AI system to building engaging mini-games, from designing user-friendly interfaces to debugging code, every step has offered us a wealth of practical knowledge. We faced a multitude of challenges, such as the struggle with the snake game that defied completion and the surprise technical issues that popped up in the 3D menu and the kart racing game. But overcoming each obstacle provided us with valuable insights and improved our problem-solving skills.
The process of conceptualizing, designing, and programming Party Panic! has also allowed us to explore our creativity. We've had to think carefully about game mechanics, visual aesthetics, user experience, and how all these elements come together to create a fun and engaging game.
So, while Party Panic!'s future remains uncertain, one thing is clear: the journey of creating this game has been rewarding and enriching. The lessons learned and the experiences gained will surely inform and inspire our future projects. Here's to the future, filled with more code, more games, and more learning!
Stay tuned and keep partying on!
